Michael Perry is an American author, humorist, and singer-songwriter. He was born on August 2, 1964, in New Auburn, Wisconsin. Perry grew up on a small dairy farm and later became a volunteer firefighter, a nursing assistant, and a musician.
He has written several books, including "Population 485: Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time," "Coop: A Year of Poultry, Pigs, and Parenting," and "The Jesus Cow." His writing combines personal anecdotes, humor, and a love for rural life.
Perry's books have been well-received, with "Population 485" becoming a New York Times bestseller. He has also written for numerous publications, including Esquire, The New York Times Magazine, and Backpacker.
In addition to his writing, Perry is also a musician. He performs with his band, The Long Beds, and has released several albums. He often incorporates music into his book readings and presentations.
Perry currently lives in Wisconsin with his wife and two daughters.
